Digital Mole Mapping with Dr. Caroline Kim

Dr Caroline Kim

Newton Wellesley Dermatology is pleased to offer digital mole mapping under the care of board-certified dermatologist and Director of Melanoma & Pigmented Skin Lesions Program, Dr. Caroline Kim.

Digital mole mapping is a full-body photography system that creates a detailed baseline record of every mole and skin lesion on your body. At each follow-up visit, your current images are compared side by side with your baseline, making even the smallest changes immediately visible — changes that could easily be missed by the naked eye alone.

The Screening Process

A mole and melanoma screening at Newton Wellesley Dermatology is a non-invasive, comprehensive evaluation of your skin's health. Our board-certified specialists utilize advanced tools like dermoscopy to examine pigmented lesions at a microscopic level, allowing us to identify subtle changes that might be invisible to the naked eye. This expert assessment is critical for the early detection of skin cancer, providing peace of mind and the best possible outcomes through timely intervention.

Why Regular Skin Checks Matter

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, and melanoma accounts for the majority of skin cancer deaths. Annual full-body skin exams allow your dermatologist to detect subtle changes in moles and identify suspicious lesions before they become dangerous. If you have a personal or family history of melanoma, fair skin, a history of sunburns, or many moles, regular screening is especially important.

Early-stage melanoma is highly treatable and often curable through expert medical intervention.

99% Survival Rate

Detection in the localized stage typically requires less extensive surgery and avoids systemic therapies.
